Far North Coast Rugby Union

The Far North Coast Rugby Union (FNCRU) has a rich history that reflects the growth of the sport in the northern part of New South Wales, Australia. The FNCRU is a key part of the larger New South Wales Country Rugby Union and serves as the governing body for rugby union in the Far North Coast district. The senior competition is the heart of the FNCRU. It features a number of clubs that have been staples of the local rugby scene for many years. The first-grade clubs currently competing include: Ballina Rugby Union Club Bangalow Rugby Union Club Byron Bay Rugby Union Club Casino Rugby Union Club Casuarina Beach Rugby Club Lennox Head Rugby Union Club Lismore Rugby Union Club Wollongbar/Alstonville Rugby Club The FNCRU also has a history of clubs that have either merged or are now considered “lower-grade” or defunct. These clubs, such as Evans River, Iluka Cossacks, and Kyogle Cockies, are part of the broader story of rugby in the region, showing how the sporting landscape has evolved over time.
