First published in 1992 (this copy is the fifth edition, 1996), Rugby in Blue and Gold is an annual publication written by Dave McLaren. Dave has written in the preface; “During 1993, a copy of A C Swan’s monumental “records of Otago Union 1881 – 1940″was acquired by the author. This private compilation, deposited now at the NZ Rugby Museum, contains details of every player from Otago who played in these years and is set out year by year, match by match and with each players position carefully described, The information thus available has been incorporated in the present book resulting in many corrections of spellings, initials, clubs and appearances.”
