• Established: Founded in 1883, administering rugby across the Auckland Region.

• Eden Park: In 1925, Eden Park officially became the home of Auckland Rugby, later earning a reputation as the fortress of New Zealand rugby.
• The 1960–1963 Golden Era: Under legendary coach Sir Fred Allen, Auckland dominated domestic rugby, mounting a memorable 25-match Ranfurly Shield defence streak.
3. The Great Golden Era (1985–1993)
The mid-1980s to early 1990s marked arguably the greatest period of dominance by any provincial side in rugby history:
• “Match of the Century” (1985): Auckland ended Canterbury’s record-equaling 25-match Shield tenure in a famous 28–23 thriller at Lancaster Park.
• 61 Consecutive Defences: From 1985 to 1993, Auckland set an all-time record by defending the Ranfurly Shield 61 consecutive times before losing it to Waikato.
• 1987 World Cup Core: Ten players from the Auckland squad started for the All Blacks in their victorious 1987 inaugural Rugby World Cup Final.
