Club History

Waitomo Rugby Club

The Waitomo Rugby Club was formed at Hangatiki in the early 1920’s. In the early years there seems to have been some argument as to whether the club should have been in the Otorohanga or Maniapoto Sub-Union. The club has had various name changes being known in the early years as Hangatiki and at some time in the 1940’s as Waitomo Valley. The club was reformed in 1969 under the name of Waitomo Caves Rugby Football Club.
