Club History

Waitete Rugby Club

The Waitete Rugby Club was formed in 1931, fielding a junior team. In 1935 a senior B team was added and in 1939 they had their first senior A team. The team went into recess in 1940 and reformed in 1945. In 1947 they won almost every trophy available. In 1955 Colin Meads was selected for the NZ Colts team, In following seasons Colin and Stan Meads were selected for the All Blacks
