Vikings Rugby Club

The Vikings Rugby Club was formed on 7th June 1957 with their first match being on July 7th against North Auckland Clubs. NZ Vikings Rugby Football Club Inc purpose is to foster Northland youth in amateur rugby. The name Vikings was chosen as they are the northern most club in New Zealand and the ancient warrior Vikings were from northern Europe. The Vikings play in black jerseys

Peter Jones celebrated his 60th birthday and the Mangonui sub-union decided to celebrate the occasion by arranging a match between the Barbarians and Vikings at Arnold Rae Park in Kaitaia. The programme has some wonderful details and images of Peter Jones life and rugby career, but also includes valuable information on both the Barbarians and Vikings rugby clubs.
