Victoria University of Wellington Rugby Club

Victoria University of Wellington Rugby Club – In the winter of 1902 a group of students at Victoria University College gathered to consider the playing of rugby football as part of the sporting and social life of the new university college. The first college team ever assembled had already defeated an ‘Old Boys’ side 19- 12 at Athletic Park that year. The Old Boys – University Rugby Club was established following the amalgamation of two of Wellington’s proudest clubs – the Wellington College Old Boys Rugby Football Club and the Victoria University Rugby Football Club at the end of the 1991 season.
