Club History

Te Kawau Rugby Club

Te Kawau Rugby Club – Rugby has been played in the Te Kawau area since 1876 which peaked during the 1920’s when a sub union was formed. However, as farm work became more mechanised and the rural population decreased the final two clubs, Hui Mai (Sanson) and Rongotea, decided to disband and form Te Kawau Rugby Club based at Rongotea. That was in 1953, so the 2003 book doubles as the club’s 50th jubilee publication.
