Club History

Roskill Districts Rugby Club

Roskill Districts Rugby Club: The club started as Mount Roskill Rugby Football Club in 1945, changed to Roskill Districts RFC after a merger with the Hillsborough RFC. And now, upon its merger with Suburbs RFC, will now on be known as Mount Roskill Junior Rugby Club. When the first class union of Counties broke away from Auckland (initially as ‘South Auckland’ in 1955, and then as ‘Counties’ in 1956), Roskill loaned the union their Red, Black and White strip to play in. This became the basis from which Counties-Manukau have evolved their playing strip over the years, still utilising the colours Red, Black & White today.
