• Foundation (1925):

Formed in 1925, the club arose to serve the farming families and workers in the newly developing Reporoa valley settlement. In its earliest days, matches were played on rough pumice fields, and local farm sheds or old cowsheds served as primitive changing facilities.

• Home Ground & Mataarae Marae:

The club modernised its headquarters by relocating next to Mataarae Marae, leasing the land from Ngāti Mataarae. The expansive clubrooms serve as a multi-purpose hub for local community events, agricultural social gatherings, and workers from the nearby Reporoa Fonterra dairy factory.

• Sub-Union Affiliation:

Reporoa competes under the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union (BOPRU) as part of the Central Bay of Plenty sub-union alongside traditional Rotorua-district rivals like Whakarewarewa, Ngongotahā, Kahukura, and Rotoiti.

• Rural Identity:

As a true grassroots country club, Reporoa has long accommodated the rhythms of dairy farming, famously scheduling junior and senior game times later in the morning so players can complete morning milking duties before putting on their boots.

Despite its small rural population, Reporoa has produced and nurtured top-tier international rugby talent:

• Sam Cane: Former All Blacks Captain (and 2015 Rugby World Cup winner) who played his junior rugby for Reporoa before making the Reporoa College 1st XV at just 14 years old.

• Scott Curry: Long-time All Blacks Sevens captain and Olympic silver medalist who played his early rugby and sports in Reporoa.

• Mark Taylor: All Black back who played 9 matches for New Zealand between 1976 and 1982.
