Club History

Rakaunui Rugby Club

Rakaunui Rugby Club was formed in the early 1900’s. Originally wearing black jerseys, they changed to a dark green with a diagonal gold slash. They played in the Puketoi rugby sub-union, part of the Bush rugby union. Maurice Connor was their most prominent player, being a Bush representative player and an All Black trialist. In the 1920’s, the club became defunct and the players joined the newly formed Tiraumea rugby club (now Puketoi rugby club).
