The Rakaia Rugby Club is one of the oldest Rugby Clubs in New Zealand and was first formed in July 1876. It will celebrate its 150th Jubilee in 2026. It has remained strong despite world wars and economic recessions and continues to provide sport and recreational opportunities for the local Rakaia Community and the surrounding area. The club has four playing fields at the Rakaia Domain with modern changing/showering facilities and floodlights for night training, A new Clubrooms is scheduled to be built at the Rakaia Domain, however currently there are temporary Clubrooms available in the Rakaia Bowling Clubrooms at the Rakaia Domain
