The Pauatahanui Rugby Club was formed in 1899 and the last records of matches are recorded in 1909. The area now sits closest to the Northern United Rugby Club and the Paramata-Plimmerton Rugby Club. Ken Gray, the famous All Blacks prop from the 1960’s was raised in Pauatahanui (on Grays Road) and started playing for the Paramata Rugby Club. To play senior grade, he transferred to Petone Rugby Club, where he was selected for Wellington and the All Blacks.
