Paremata Rugby Club

Club History

Paremata Rugby Club‘s first recorded matches were played on James Walkers farmland. They were known as The Magpies.

The club’s roots trace back to the rapid growth of the seaside communities around the Porirua Harbour and Pauatahanui Inlet in the early 20th century.

Early Local Roots

1920s–1930s
Separate local rugby teams served the expanding coastal settlements of Paremata and Plimmerton, playing friendly fixtures and competing in local sub-union competitions around Western Hutt and Porirua.

The 1959 Amalgamation

1959
To build a stronger, more sustainable club for the growing district, Paremata RFC and Plimmerton RFC officially merged to form Paremata-Plimmerton RFC. The new club established its permanent home at Ngātitoa Domain.
