Kawerau Rugby Club

Club History

Kawerau Rugby Club was formed in 1955. There were 2 clubs during the 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s – Kawerau and Kawerau United. Both clubs amalgamated in 1999 and were named Kawerau Rugby & Sports Club. Around 2007/8 they were on the downward slide so amalgamated with Kawerau Town AFC and renamed under Kawerau Sports Club. They have not fielded a senior team since 2014. They now operate JAB grades only.
