Club History

Karori Rugby Club

Karori Rugby Club was officially established in 1922 and its colours were alternate hoops of sky blue and royal blue. During WWII it went into recess and reformed in 1946 as Makara Rugby Club, adopting colours of brown and white hoops. In October 1948, the club was renamed Karori Rugby Club. In the 1960’s the club changed its colours to black jersey, white shorts and black socks with white hoops. These colours were “taken” from High School Old Boys (Hutt Valley) who had amalgamated with Hutt Rugby Club to form Hutt OB Rugby Club. At the end of the 1982 season, Karori amalgamated with Onslow and Athletic to form Western Suburbs Rugby Club.
