The Hunterville Rugby Club is a historic pillar of the Rangitīkei district in the central North Island. Established in 1888, it shares its exact birth year with the wider Whanganui Rugby Football Union (WRFU), making it one of the foundation clubs of the region.

• The Centenary: In 1988, the club celebrated its 100-year Centenary alongside the 50th jubilee of the Hunterville Women’s Hockey Club, hosting a massive weekend celebration highlighted by Hunterville squaring off against a President’s XV invitation team.
2. Modern Era: The Wanganui Senior Powerhouse
In modern club rugby, Hunterville opts to contest the highly competitive Whanganui Senior Championship (the tier directly below Premier grade). In this space, the maroon-clad country club has established itself as an absolute powerhouse.
• Sponsorship Identity: Known locally for years as Kelso Hunterville due to their long-standing commercial partnerships, the club routinely features at the top of the WRFU table.
• The 2021 Championship Season: Hunterville put together an incredibly dominant modern campaign in 2021. They tore through the regular season with massive wins (including a 69–14 drubbing of Border) before winning a tense, gritty grand final against Ratana (8–6) to lift the Senior Championship banner.
• The Hub Today: Operating out of the Hunterville Domain, the club remains fully active. It fields both competitive senior squads and an expansive junior network (spanning Year 1 Rippa through to Year 6 tackle grades), ensuring that the next generation of Rangitīkei talent keeps the club vibrant well into the future.
