Goldfields Rugby Club

The Goldfields Rugby Club was granted affiliation to the Thames Valley Rugby Union on 23rd March 1960. The Union was advised that the Goldfields club would operate on the same lines as the Barbarians and Harlequins and foster rugby within the Thames Valley as well as staging benefit games. The clubs colours were confirmed as a gold jersey with a white collar and a large black letter G on the left breast, The first match was played on Sunday July 10th, 1960, against Thames Valley, who played in red jerseys.
