Batemans Bay ‘Boars’ Rugby Union Club

Established in 1980, the Batemans Bay Boars Rugby Union Club has served as a cornerstone of grassroots rugby union on the Far South Coast of New South Wales. Based at Hanging Rock Sports Complex in Batemans Bay, the club fields senior men’s, women’s, and junior teams in regional South Coast and ACT/Canberra sub-district competitions.

Key Historical Milestones

• Origins & Foundation (1980): The club was established to give local union enthusiasts a dedicated home in a region traditionally dominated by rugby league.

• Regional Competitions: Over the decades, the Boars have competed across various regional bodies, including the Far South Coast Rugby Union and the ACT & South Coast Suburban Rugby Union (competing in competitions like the Suburban Cup and Canberra Women’s 10s).

• 8 Premiership Titles: Throughout its history, the club has claimed 8 premierships across its various senior and reserve grades.

• Growth of Women’s & Junior Rugby: In recent years, the club expanded significantly by introducing the Boars Women’s 10s team and building a strong Junior Boars pipeline.

• Cultural Connection: In 2026, the club deepened its connection with the local Indigenous community by collaborating with the Yuin people on Mount Gulaga to design the club’s official Indigenous Jersey.
